Beating Procrastination:
Why do you start procrastinating? Do you find the task unpleasant or do you find the task overwhelming? If you find the task unpleasant, a good way is to ensure it is done is by rewarding yourself afterwords. Also having someone hold you accountable to it so it gets complete quickly will enable you to move on to more fun things. If you feel overwhelmed break the project down to smaller tasks then start with easy ones first once you complete the easy ones it gives a sense of accomplishment. Once you establish this feeling it builds momentum for the hard tasks.
Activity Logs:
Without modifying your normal behavior keep an activity log for about 3 to 4 days. This will help you determine how you spend your day(and time) and more importantly when you do your most productive work. From this log of 3-4 days analyze your activity from how much time you spend doing low value jobs, to when you are most productive during the day. Notice if you take rest breaks, when you eat, the quality of the food; these might effect the productive time of the day for you.
